Aniline leather or it is also known as Waxed Leather and Pull Up Leather is the highest quality leather you’ll find on the market. However, there are some down sides to aniline that you may not be aware of or been told about in store before you purchased. Aniline Leather is dyed and has no UV properties unlike a Pigmented leather – It will fade.

Aniline Leather will mark and scratch easily – Harder to repair. Aniline Leather will wear very quickly when used on couches in high traffic areas – Dark patches.

Whatever you spill on aniline leather will add “Character” to the finish unless you use our Leather Shied. This includes body oils, perspiration etc. These marks / stains generally don’t come out. Our kit is designed to clean the leather surface before you condition the leather to keep it supple. Aniline leather needs to be “fed” regularly with our Leather Conditioner to keep a barrier on its surface.

I bought the CouchGuard kit for aniline leather and it’s great! I was concerned about damaging the leather since aniline leather requires more attention and care and using the wrong products could easily ruin the untreated leather. The CouchGuard kit brings our couch back to life when it’s looking dull and makes it feel new again.

I have used the CouchGuard aniline leather cleaner and conditioner twice now and I am very happy with the product and speedy delivery of the product too. I would recommend CouchGuard to everyone with leather furniture.

Quick and easy ordering and delivered on time. Used the protective cream on a new aniline leather sofa to create an initial protective barrier. I have used the cream to touch up some scratch marks and it restores the look of the leather very well. The cloths provided are of good quality. Will be using the cleaner and the protective clean every 3 months to maintain the look of the sofa.

My couch has character marks as described on here but was still able to remove most of the grime and dirt. The conditioning cream really works well with the leather feeling like it did when I 1st bought it.

How To Use This Product

CouchGuard® Aniline Or Waxed Leather Cleaner Directions:

1 Place a drop sheet or old towel around the couch to be cleaned to protect floor coverings. (not supplied)
2 Vacuum any loose dirt from your sofa using your upholstery and crevice tools.
3 Always work on one area at a time. Evenly Spray CouchGuard® Aniline Leather Cleaner onto selected area. Wipe dry with the white Microfire towel.
4 Repeat process until all grime is removed or the towel starts to turn the colour of the couch.
5 CouchGuard recommends applying our conditioning cream after cleaning.
Use as directed.

Aniline / Waxed / Pull Up Leathers will darken when moister is applied. This is normal.

CouchGuard® Leather Conditioning Cream Directions:

1 Lightly dampen 1 white microfibre towel (supplied) with water. Work water into cloth until a ball like shape is formed.
2 Apply CouchGuard® Conditioning Cream onto the cloth. Work into the cloth then gently apply cream evenly over leather. Continue process until the complete couch has been treated.

For best results allow the leather conditioner to absorb into leather for 3-4hrs before placing throw cushions back onto couch or using.

Warning: Always test on a small hidden area before use

leather coverage guide
A. This is common with this type of leather. It is meant to develop the worn look over time. So what ever you spill or mark it with will add character to the leather surface. This includes body and hair oils. The idea of the care kit is to clean the leather surface before replenishing the oils and waxes back into the leather hide to prevent it from drying out.

No. You can't use leather filler or our Leather Repair Resin and leather dye together. The Leather Dye is alcohol based so it will soften the filler or resin. If you have an aniline leather, then no filler just dye. If you have a finished / pigmented leather then you can use the resin or filler and leather colour, which is leather paint.

You can’t repair Aniline Leather like you can a Finished / Pigmented Leather. Once you sand and apply Leather Filler to an Aniline Leather it then becomes a Finished / Pigmented leather and needs Leather Paint to cover the filler. Your not going to replicate that finish with Leather Paint.

You can rub Leather Dye into your Aniline Leather (once prepped with Leather Prep) but you can't fill and sand the cracking. Dye takes on the colour is being applied to. So where there is colour now or a darker spot this will keep getting dark so the finish will be uneven. Thats how Aniline is.

We say our Leather Dye is for leather but its up to you what you want to use it on.

Yes. You can use the Comprehensive Leather Care kit on all coloured leathers and not just white. This kit is designed for pigmented and finished leathers.

Yes and No. Not all leather is repairable as such. Generally the seating areas along with the arm and headrest areas are damaged from body oils, perspiration etc. The leather has absorbed these contaminates over the years so getting a permeant repair is near impossible. Adhesion may / will be an issue or those areas will crack again with little use.

You may also want to look at using our Leather Repair Resin if you don't want to do leather panel replacements.

If you do go ahead and repair badly damaged areas and the repairs fail, please don't blame our products when this happens.

No. You would need 3 litres or the 3lt kit for a 5 seater modular, no chaise. You'll also find an "Coverage Guide Ideal For..." under each kit listed in the "In The Box" tab. If you are ordering a 3lt kit and your modular has a chaise or is extra large you will need to purchase the additional 1lt Leather Colour
